123RF Tutorial: Creating a Tilt-Shift photo using Photoshop

You may wonder what Tilt-Shift means... A Tilt-Shift lens enables you to rotate the lens against the image plane, hence “tilt”, and also “shift”. These movements of the lens create an optical illusion where scenes appear wide and dramatic with objects in it looking miniature. The effect is achieved by focusing on a part of the image and blurring out its surroundings.

Using Photoshop, let’s see how we can mimic the images shot with a Tilt-Shift lens.

123RF Tutorial : Recolor Black & White Photograph

In this tutorial... we are going to apply the Brush Tool, make selections and create multiple Adjustment Layers to add color onto a black & white image. By using Adjustment Layers, we can make modifications anyhow, anytime throughout the process. Note however that time and patience is needed during coloring in order to achieve better results. If you want good results, using Layer Masks will save you a lot of time.

123RF Tutorial: Creating a Searing Hot Effect

Using a combination of ripple, wave, and displace filters, we shall create an effect that resembles a heat wave.

Lets start off by creating 3 displacement maps.

The first displacement map shall be used for the distortion of the overall image. The second, for the car and creation of light smoke and the third, works as an added detail.

Open the image that we will be working on. For a more precise displace distortion, it is best we examine the size of the image and create a new file base on that. Mine would be 1500 x 916 pixel.
